Effingham and Teutopolis split junior high boys basketball victories Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, the Mustangs trailed T-town 19-9 at halftime. Effingham came back with a 10-5 third quarter and outscored the Wooden Shoes 15-8 in the final period for the victory.

Duncan led Effingham with 14 points while Thompson had nine and Wolfe eight. T-town was led by Addis and M. Deters with 12 points each.

In eighth-grade action, T-town was in total control all the way in a 43-13 victory. The Shoes led 25-8 at halftime and had a 12-0 third quarter.

Bushur led the Shoes with 10 while Althoff added nine and Bannick eight. Effingham was led by Eaton with four.

At Newton

The St. Anthony seventh-grade B team traveled to Newton St. Thomas Thursday and dropped a 33-24 decision to the A squad.

Seth Williams led the Bullpups with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas Chojnicki chipped in with eight points and Ivan Doug had five rebounds. St. Thomas was led by Schaefer with 10 points.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony's B squad beat Newton St. Thomas 43-16. The Bullpups held a 25-12 halftime lead.

Schutte tallied 10 while Wiedman had nine for the Bullpups. St. Thomas was led by Weber with six.

At Strasburg

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came calling and captured two victories over host Stewardson-Strasburg Thursday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 48-12 with a 33-8 first half lead. W. Robertson scored 15 and Persinger 13 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Wernsing with four as the squad dropped to 3-2.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC won 36-17. CHBC held a 19-5 first half lead and outscored Stew-Stras 16-4 in the third period. Lucas and Persinger had eight points each for the winners. Walden and Sayers led Stew-Stras with four each.

Dieterich picked up two victories over North Clay (Louisville).

Dieterich won the seventh-grade encounter 34-30. Dieterich edged out to a 15-14 halftime lead but fell behind 24-23 in the third quarter. Dieterich then came back with an 11-6 final quarter run.

Budde tallied 15 for the winners. North Clay was led by Dakota Weidner with 20.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich claimed a 52-40 win. Cory Gephart tallied 21 while Dalton Will had 11 for Dieterich. North Clay was led by Bible with 16 and Anthony with 14.

At Altamont

Sigel St. Michael nabbed two victories over Altamont in Thursday action.

St. Michael won the seventh-grade contest 48-12. Niebrugge scored 18 points while Croy had 14 and Young 10. Altamont was led by Winn with six.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Michael picked up a 39-23 victory. The Sharpshooters were led by Croy with 19 points. Altamont was led by Bradin Baucum with seven.
