Effingham Junior High School claimed two girls basketball victories over Neoga in Friday action.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 29-10. Althoff tallied 10 for the winners who improved to 3-2. Neoga was led by Dunn with five points.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham was a 39-15 winner. Diveley tallied 17 while Rieman and Robson had eight each. The Mustangs are now 2-3. Neoga was led by Phillips with 11.

At St. Anthony

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor finished fourth at the St. Anthony Tournament Saturday.

In the first game, St. Anthony beat SSW 25-7. Wegman tallied eight for the Bullpups while Hayes was the lone scorer for SSW with seven.

Stew-Stras then faced Cumberland for third place and fell 29-12.

Cumberland was led by Mitchell with eight points. Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Hayes with six.

No information was provided on the championship game.

At Teutopolis Shootout

Teutopolis squared off against Arcola in seventh and eighth-grade action at its own Shootout Saturday.

T-town fell in seventh-grade play 32-28 and eighth-grade action 30-19. T-town was led by Grace Hoene with 10 points in the seventh-grade contest and by Carly Michels with 11 in the eighth-grade game.

T-town then beat Marshall in both games. The Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 28-11. Jaden Deters tallied nine for the Shoes who improve to 6-1.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a 39-29 winner over Marshall. Michels scored 25 as the Shoes improved to 3-4.
