Junior High Girls Basketball Results -- Sept. 28

Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School downed Neoga in both seventh and eighth grade girls basketball action Tuesday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade conteset 31-15. Isabelle Hakman scored 13 for the winners. Neoga was led by Moore with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 37-8 winner. The Bullpups held a 19-13 halftime lead.

Jacy Boatman tallied 10 for the winners. Phillips scored all eight of Neoga's points.

At Mattoon

Effingham and Mattoon split victories. The Mustangs were winners in the seventh-grade contest 19-14.

Buscher tallied eight and Sowell seven for Effingham. The Mustangs are 1-1.

In eighth-grade action, Mattoon claimed a 23-6 victory. Armstrong had four points for Effingham. The Mustangs drop to 0-2.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Vandalia 35-13 in the seventh-grade matchup Tuesday.

Gracie Heckert tallied 16 points for the winners. CHBC is now 1-1 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC fell to Vandalia 20-17 in overtime.

Madison Cherry tallied six points for CHBC which drops to 1-1. Vandalia held a 9-8 halftime lead. CHBC came back with a 9-7 second half run to tie the score then couldn't get a basket in the overtime period.

At Dieterich

Visiting Altamont and homestanding Dieterich split wins Tuesday evening.

Dieterich took the seventh-grade contest 23-11. Dieterich held a 15-3 halftime lead and never looked back. Brummer had five points to lead the way. Altamont was led by Fulk with four.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont took a 27-4 halftime lead and went on to beat Dieterich 45-12.

McManaway tallied 16 and Runge 14 for the winners. CHBC was led by Locey with five.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis easily handled North Clay (Louisville) in both games Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 41-7. Jaden Deters scored 10 for the winners who are 1-0.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 23-18. Carly Michels scored 16.

Teutopolis is back in action Thursday at Effingham St. Anthony.
