Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony split victories in girls junior high basketball play Thursday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 32-12. Effingham led 14-2 at halftime and had  a 16-0 third quarter run. Myers tallied 10 to lead the winners. Clausius led St. Anthony with four. The Mustangs are 5-1.

St. Anthony claimed the eighth-grade contest 24-15. The Bullpups led 13-6 at halftime. Wohltman tallied 14 to lead the winners. Wright, Conkling and Depoister had four each for Efifngham which drops to 1-5.

Sigel St. Michael picked up two victories over Effingham Sacred Heart.

In seventh-grade play, St. Michael won 30-24. Bueker led St. Michael with 11 points. Sacred Heart was led by Shamhart with 11 points.

In eighth-grade action, St. Michael won 38-26. Hotze tallied 16 for the winners. Webster led the Shamrocks with 13.

At Tower Hill

Pana Sacred Heart picked up two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg.

Pana Sacred Heart won the seventh-grade game, 33-16. Stew-Stras (5-5) was led by Everett with six.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart won 36-20. B. Schlechte led Stew-Stras (2-6) with 13.

At Teutopolis

Jasper County picked up the seventh-grade victory while Teutopolis was a winner in eighth-grade play.

Jasper County trailed T-town 2-0 after the first quarter and 8-4 at halftime but came back to edge the Wooden Booties 18-17. A. Frohning tallied eight for the winners. Marianna Hemmen led T-town with 13 as the Booties drop to 5-2.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 37-33 winner. T-town trailed 16-14 at halftime but had a 14-8 third period run. Shelby Thompson scored 20 for the winners. G. Hartrich had 12 and A. Richards 11 for Jasper County. T-town improves to 7-0 on the season.

Altamont handed Vandalia two losses. Altamont won the seventh-grade contest 37-6. Shelbi Stone led the winners with 15 points. Altamont improves to 9-0.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont won 48-10. Three players hit double digits. Elizabeth Biggs had 14 points while Hannah Paquette and Brooke Burns had 10 each. The squad improves to 8-1.
