EHS Drops Loss to Breese M.D., 60-55

BREESE -- Effingham High School traveled to Breese Mater Dei and fell to the homestanding boys basketball squad 60-55 Tuesday evening. The Hearts saw a nine-game winning streak snapped.

Mater Dei edged out to a 14-12 opening quarter lead and expanded that to 26-23 at halftime. The Hearts could muster only two baskets and two free throws in the third period but finished out strong with a 26-22 final quarter run but couldn't make up that first half deficit.

Grant Wolfe tallied 22 points to lead the Hearts while Jacob Donaldson chipped in with 10.

 EHS finishes the regular season and Apollo Conference season Friday at Taylorville.

The Hearts won the junior varsity game, 75-70.
