In regular season action, the Effingham Hearts won on the road against a tough Taylorville team, 60-45.

Effingham led 12-9 after one quarter, but a 21-9 advantage in the second period had the Hearts up 33-18 at halftime and they cruised from there.

Lady Hearts Coach Jeff Schafer said, "We really needed this game tonight; with Shelby Nunamaker out with a knee injury, we really needed everyone to step up; she has been one of our energy people all year, and everyone did. Sidney Webster got her first start and provided a spark; we had five players between nine and 12 points so great balance, but we had a huge advantage on the boards, 21-6 in the first half. I'm very proud of the way our girls bounced back; this gives us some momentum going into our "double regional game"; we play Olney Thursday (for Senior Night) and Monday (to start the post-season). Our guards tonight did a great job of attacking all night and our posts came off the bench and were very solid; it was the perfect mix and a great effort all night".

For Effingham: Carsyn Fearday 12, Marranda Steffen 11, Miranda Fox 11, Shelby Myers 10, Aly Armstrong 9, Taylor Crowell 3, Sidney Webster 2, and Bria Barr 2.

The Hearts improved to 18-10 and are back to .500 in the Apollo Conference at 5-5.
