NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a 63-29 win over Neoga in the Neoga Freshman/Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 16-4 opening quarter lead and led 32-12 at halftime.

Alex Deters tallied 12 for the Bulldogs while Jack Nuxoll and Bryson Wall had 11 each.

Neoga was led by Peters with five.

St. Anthony advances to the championship game tonight at 7:30.

Hillsboro Freshman Tournament

Effingham competed in the Hillsboro Freshman Tournament Saturday and fell to Marquette 60-34.

Marquette held a slight 8-6 opening quarter lead then pushed that to 26-14 at halftime. Marquette then went on a 44-18 second half run.

The Hearts were led by Hunter Rich with 14 points.

EHS will play tonight in consolation bracket play against either Hillsboro or Auburn at 6.
