Dieterich Downs CHBC in Girls Basketball

COWDEN -- Dieterich High School claimed a 58-49 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in girls basketball competition Saturday. It was the regular season finale for both teams as they start regional play this week.

Dieterich leaped out to a 22-8 opening quarter lead and led 32-28 at halftime. The Movin' Maroons had a 26-21 second half.

Madison Bannick tallied 17 for the winners while Anna Shadle scored 13 and Kelsey Webb 11. Cassie Vahling pulled down six rebounds. Webb led in assists with three. Shadle had two steals. Dieterich knocked in eight three-pointers with Webb and Bannick leading with three each. The Maroons are now 9-19.

CHBC was led by Skylar Morrison with 14 points.
