Teutopolis captured the Class 8-3A Pana Regional championship.

Teutopolis captured a regional championship in boys eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the Class 8-3A Pana Regional by beating Assumption Central A&M 40-27.

T-town edged out to an 8-7 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 20-15 at halftime. The Shoes had a 20-12 second half.

Hemmen tallied 13 and Hardiek 12 for the winners who now advance to the Cumberland Sectional Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. against Marshall, who won its own regional by downing Robinson Nuttall 40-34 Tuesday.

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael captured the championship of its own regional with a 54-37 win over Dieterich Tuesday evening. No other statistics were provided.

St. Michael now advances to its own sectional scheduled Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. against either Stewardson-Strasburg or Mulberry Grove. Those two play for the Stew-Stras Regional championship Thursday.

 

Class 8-1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Mulberry Grove handed Pana Sacred Heart a 40-17 loss in the first game of the evening.

In the second contest, Stewardson-Strasburg won over Sorento 38-29.

Stew-Stras held a 19-16 halftime lead then had a 19-13 second half. Kirby tallied 21 points for the winners while Wernsing added nine. Stew-Stras is now 11-11 on the season.

Stew-Stras will face Mulberry Grove at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional title.

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Altamont saw its season come to an end with a 55-25 loss to Nokomis in the championship game of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional.

Nokomis stepped out to a 16-8 opening quarter lead and led 30-16 at halftime. The winners then had a 25-4 third quarter.

Altamont was led by Gelsinger with 10 points.

Nokomis advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional to face either Effingham St. Anthony or Arcola Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. St. Anthony and Arcola meet for the Neoga Regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 8-2A Neoga Regional

Effingham St. Anthony advanced to the championship game with a 50-32 victory over host Neoga Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups stepped out to a 17-6 opening quarter lead and led 26-17 at halftime. St. Anthony had a 24-15 second half.

Dust tallied 21 for the winners while Hoene chipped in with 12.

In the opener Arcola beat Paris Crestwood 35-23.

St. Anthony meets Arcola at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.
