DIETERICH -- Dieterich High School handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 61-48 National Trail Conference loss Tuesday evening in boys basketball action.

The Movin' Maroons whipped out to a 19-2 opening quarter lead and the game was in the victory column. SEB came back in the action half with a slight 35-28 run but not enough to make up for that first half.

Travis Niemerg tallied 17 points for the winners while Trenton Poe chipped in with 14 and Lance Niemerg with 11.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Kyle Hardimon with 10 points.

St. Elmo/Brownstown will have Senior Night Thursday during the high school girls basketball game against Effingham St. Anthony. All Brownstown senior athletes as well as St. Elmo seniors that participate in Brownstown hosted sports will be recognized.

The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. and Senior/Family Recognition will be held during halftime of the junior varsity game at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Altamontn easily handled Ramsey in a non-conference contest, 69-39.

The Indians stepped out to a 19-9 opening quarter and led 44-22 at halftime. The Indians were led by Branden Hosick, a 6-foot senior, with 18. Also in double figures were Evan Cornett with 12 and Cameron Jackman with 10.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Cerro Gordo-Bement 34-27.

Cerro Gordo held a 6-3 opening quarter lead but WSS came back to lead 15-13 at halftime. The Hatchets then had a 19-14 second half run.

Tristan Warner, a 6-foot-2 senior, tallied 12 points to lead the Hatchets who improve to 11-10 on the season.

South Central went overtime before pulling out a 47-41 non-conference victory over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Tuesday evening.

The score was knotted at 18-18 at halftime before COR took a 22-19 third quarter lead. South Central came back to tie the score, sending the game into overtime. The Cougars then had a 9-3 run for the win.

 Three players hit double digits for the Cougars. Brett Harmeier led with 13 while Drevonte Hill added 12 and Trevor Markley 10. The Cougars improve to 9-14 overall.

Mulberry Grove edged out to a 15-14 opening quarter lead before Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick came back with a 15-14 edge to knot the score at 29-29 at halftime.

Mulberry Grove then took off in the final quarter with a 27-8 run to pull out a 70-48 victory.

Aaron Nohren, a junior, tallied 17 points for BCCH while Daniel Harder, a senior, chipped in with 14.

Cumberland came calling and picked up a 70-59 win over Villa Grove/Heritage Tuesday evening.

The Pirates held a 33-23 halftime lead then held off VGH in the second half. McMechan tallied 17 as did Wolke for the Pirates. Also in double figures was Shaon with 11.
