Teutopolis claimed two victories over Effingham in freshman/sophomore boys basketball competition Saturday.

In freshman action, Teutopolis edged Effingham, 65-64 in overtime. T-town held a slight 30-29 halftime lead but the Hearts came back for a 45-44 lead going into the final quarter. The Shoes then had a 12-11 edge to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, Weber connected on three baskets and a free throw to guide the Shoes to the win. Weber finished with 21 points while Smith added 16 and Hardiek 11.

Effingham was led by Dylan Bushur with 17, Zack Lee with 16 and Lucas Hagler with 15.

T-town won the sophomore game 59-54. The Wooden Shoes took a 17-9 opening quarter lead but Effingham came back to pull within 29-23 at halftime. T-town then had a 22-9 third quarter before the Hearts came roaring back with a 22-8 final quarter only to fall short.

Kremer tallied 20 to lead the Shoes while Funneman chipped in with 18.

Effingham was led by Ryan Sandifer with 22 and Brett Koester with 10.

At Effingham

St. Anthony had three players hit double figures in a 70-21 pounding of Neoga in freshman/sophomore play Saturday.

The Bulldogs took a 24-6 opening quartef lead behind the scoring of Wyatt Lawrence who tallied 10 points. The Bulldogs held a 36-14 halftime lead.

Ben Strullmyer tallied 13 while Lawrence had 12 and Zach Wortman 10. Neoga was led by Wood with six.
