PARIS -- Effingham St. Anthony High School fell to Paris in a non-conference girls basketball game Saturday, 43-25.

Paris stepped out to a 14-4 opening quarter lead and led 24-12 at halftime. The Bulldogs came back with a slight 8-7 third quarter run but the Tigers tallied a 12-5 final quarter.

Abby Weis led St. Anthony as the lone Bulldog player in double figures with 12.

"We played well and ran our sets well," said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. "It's just that you can't win many games going eight of 22 from the free throw line and one of 13 from the three-point line.

"Everyone's going to have an off shootoing day, hopefully ours is gone and we will knock them down Monday and Thursday."

The Bulldogs drop to 16-11 on the season.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match on a basket by M  ary Saba at the end of the game, 31-30. The Bulldogs are 10-4 in JV play.
