NOKOMIS -- Altamont Junior High School captured the championship of the Class 7-2A Nokomis Boys Basketball Regional Thursday evening.

Altamont edged host Nokomis 37-36. Altamont jumped out to a 19-2 opening quarter lead but Nokomis wasn't intimidated.

Nokomis came back within 23-12 at halftime and 26-20 going into the final quarter and outscored Altamont in the final period but fell a point short.

Eirhart tallied 16 for the winners, knocking in three trifectas in the opening quarter and finishing out with one in the final period. Cripe chipped in with eight points.

Altamont will now square off against Effingham St. Anthony Wednesday in the St. Anthony Sectional at 6:30 p.m.

Class 7-2A Nokomis Regional

Class 7-1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg saw its season come to a close in its own Class 7-1A Regional Thursday evening.

Pana Sacred Heart took a 25-10 halftime lead and never looked back in a 38-21 win over Stew-Stras.

Wernsing led Stew-Stras with nine points as the squad finished the season with a 6-17 record.

Pana Sacred Heart advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. against St. Michael.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael won the championship of its own regional Thursday evening.

The Sharpshooters downed Dieterich 54-37. St. Michael now advances to its own sectional Wednesday, February 3 against Pana Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 7-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Casey-Westfield edged Marshall 30-29 to win the championship of the Robinson Nuttall Regional.

Casey-Westfield will now face Teutopolis at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3 at the Teutopolis Sectional.

 

Class 7-3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Teuotpolis captured the championship of the Shelbyville Moulton Regional.

The Shoes bounced host Shelbyville Moulton 55-36. T-town edged out to a 13-12 opening quarter lead then put on the scoring with a 15-6 second period run to lead 28-18 at halftime. T-town had a 27-18 second half.

Addis tallied 17 and M. Deters scored 16 for the Shoes. Hardiek chipped in with nine.

T-town will now advance to its own sectional and face Casey-Westfield at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3.

Class 3A Teutopolis Regional

At Effingham

Effingham claimed two eighth-grade wins over Carlyle Thursday evening.

The Mustangs won the A competition 45-25. Siner tallied 12 points for the winners. Pemberton pulled down nine rebounds while Cramsey had six. Kalber led in steals with four.

Effingham improves to 7-13 on the season.

In the B contest, Effingham was a 47-12 winner. Effingham held an 18-6 halftime lead. Beck tallied 10 for the Mustangs while Ritz added eight. The B squad is 2-2.
