Effingham St. Anthony split freshman/sophomore boys basketball victories with Olney Thursday evening.

In the freshman game, the Tigers edged St. Anthony 39-33. Olney took a 21-14 halftime lead and led 30-23 going into the final quarter. St. Anthony came back in the final period only to fall short.

Zach Wortman tallied 10 for the Bulldogs.

In sophomore play, St. Anthony put the game away in the opening quarter with a 25-2 run and went on for a 60-15 victory.

Alex Deters scored 12 and Jack Nuxoll 11 for the Bulldogs.

At Charleston

Effingham split wins with Charleston. The freshman Hearts edged Charleston 55-51.

EHS led 33-23 at halftime but only held a 37-34 lead going into the final quarter. The Hearts then had an 18-17 run to pull out the four-point victory.

Dylan Bushur tallied 15 for the Hearts while Zack Lee had 12 and Lucas Hagler 11.

In sophomore play, Charleston picked up a 44-37 victory. The Trojans stepped out to a 21-11 opening quarter lead and it was a fight for the Hearts the rest of the way to come back from that deficit.

Ryan Sandifer tallied 15 for the Hearts while Noah Spencer scored 12.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took both contests over visitng Paris Thursday evening.

The Shoes won the freshman game 75-62 and the sophomore contest 62-19.

During the freshman game, the Shoes took a 15-11 first quarter lead and then used an explosive seocnd period to lead 45-25 at halftime. Dawson Smith supplied the offensive firepower during that second quarter with 14. He finished the game with 29. Josh Hardiek and Clint Weber added 10 points each.

The sophomore game was over early as the Shoes jumped out to a 25-9 first quarter and cruised to a 62-19 victory. Brandt Yound scored 17 and Jack Goeckner 14.
