Shoes Fall at Nashville Boys Tournament, MTC Scores

NASHVILLE -- Teutopolis High School dropped a 56-51 loss to Nashville in opening round play of the Nashville Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.

The Shoes stepped out to a quick lead, 23-13 after the opening quarter. Nashville held a slight 5-4 edge in the second period but the Shoes led 27-18 at halftime.

Nashville then went on a tear in the third quarter with a 24-15 run and outlasted the Shoes 14-9 in the final period.

Heggemeier tallied 13, Bultman 12, Newman 12 and Kemp 10 for the winners.

T-town was led by Mitch Hardiek with 18, Brett Mette with 13 and Kyle Smith 10.

In the tourney opener, Breese Central defeated Mascoutah 66-44.

Tonight's games feature T-town against Breese Mater Dei at 6:30 followed by Mascoutah taking on Nashville at 8.

Midland Trail Conference Tournament

Odin and Grayville picked up opening round victories in the Midland Trail Conference Tournament Monday evening.

Odin defeated North Clay (Louisville) 74-66. In the second contest, Grayville downed Clay City 83-56.

Tonight's games feature Odin at Woodlawn, Waltonville at Wayne City, Grayville at Cisne and Sandoval at Webber Township (Bluford).  All four games start at 7 p.m.

The tournament will then shift to North Clay (Louisville) Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
