The Breese Mater Dei Knights posted a 64-44 win over the St. Anthony Bulldogs Friday night in action at the Enlow Center. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com 

Mater Dei got out of the gate in good shape early and their stellar defense caused problems for the Bulldogs most of the game.

The Knights led 15-5 after one quarter and held a 34-14 lead at halftime to seal the win. Mater Dei extended the lead to 45-21 after three quarters before St. Anthony finally got the lid off in the fourth quarter, outscoring Mater Dei 23-19.

St. Anthony made 36% of its shots, 14 of 39, including five of 13 threes. The Bulldogs made 11 of 16 foul shots, turned the ball over a whopping 23 times, but pulled down 26 rebounds.

Mater Dei hit 51% from the field, 25 of 49, although just one of eight threes. Mater Dei made 13 of 21 free throws, committed 12 turnovers and grabbed 24 rebounds.

Drew Gibson scored nine points to lead St. Anthony and Jay Niebrugge added eight points, while Chandler Martelli, Nick Grunloh and Kyle Hartke each scored six points. Also for the Bulldogs: Cade Walsh 3, and James Kabbes, Alex Deters, and Wyatt Lawrence 2 each.

Nick Pollman led Mater Dei with 19 points while Mason Tonnies added 10.

Mater Dei improved to 11-3 on the season, while St. Anthony dropped to 11-8.
