Teutopolis Finishes Third In 8-3A State Girls Basketball Tourney

Teutopolis Junior High School captured third place in the Class 8-3A State Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening at Germantown Hills.

The Wooden Shoes got out to an early lead in the first quarter behind the shooting of Claire Bushur with 12 points in the first half. T-town held a six-point lead at halftime.

The Shoes continued their offensive pressure in the second half, outscoring Dunlap Valley MS 16-9 for a 33-20 victory.

Bushur tallied 20 for the winners while Olivia Niemerg added seven. The Shoes end the season with a 26-1 record and have a 54-1 record over two years.

There will be a celebration Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. with a firetruck ride and a short reception to follow at Teutopolis Junior High's James A. Hakman Gymnasium.

Pleasant Plains won the state championship with a 40-26 win over St. Joseph.
