South Central Downs Webber Township in Girls Basketball

BLUFORD -- South Central High School came calling at Webber Township (Bluford) and picked up a 45-33 girls basketball victory Wednesday evening.

The Cougars leaped out to a 19-5 opening quarter lead as Abby Hahn nailed two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points.

Webber Township came back with a 10-7 second quarter run to pull within 26-15 at halftime. South Central then had an 11-4 third period surge and held off Webber Township in the final quarter.

"We jumped out to the early lead in the first half, which was a great start for us," said South Central Coach Gary Kapper. "We struggled some in the fourth quarter because we kept fouling and stopping the clock. That is one area we have to improve on. it's great to see the girls work hard and want to continue to improve."

South Central improved to 6-4 on the season.
