TEUTOPOLIS -- Salem High School came calling and picked up a 40-35 win over Teutopolis in girls basketball Monday evening.

The score was knotted at 5-5 after the opening quarter before the Wooden Shoes pushed into a 16-12 halftime lead. Salem came out of the lockerroom at halftime and Sydney Geurin started connecting on three-pointers, nailing three. The Wildcats led 27-21 going into the final quarter.

T-town rallied in the final period but still fell short. T-town was led by Shelby Thompson with 12 points. Hartke pulled down 11 rebounds. and had three steals.

At Farina

Neoga claimed an overtime victory over South Central 78-66 in National Trail Conference play Monday.

The Indians held a 33-30 halftime lead and led 52-47 going into the final quarter. The Cougars rallied as Keely Smith scored eight points and Abby Hahn connected for seven points for a 17-12 run to knot the score at 64-64 sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, EC Thies hit a three-pointer and was three of four at the line and Neoga had a 14-2 run for the victory.

"Even though we did not get the win tonight on the scoreboard, we will take it," said South Central Coach Gary Kapper. "The girls were not happy with the way they have been playiing in the last few games and challenged themselves to commit to improving. They did that. This was a total team effort and, as coaches, we couldn't be prouder of how they responded."

Thies led Neoga with 31 points while Jaycie Roy tallied 17 and Kyla Potter 10. South Central was led by Hahn with 31, Smith with 19 and Sidney Wilkins with 10.

South Central dropped to 1-2 in the conference, 3-3 overall.

Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed a non-conference win over Martinsville 56-38. BSE took an 11-6 opening quarter lead then had a big 22-8 scoring second period for a 33-8 halftime lead. Brown scored seven points and Bone six.

BSE was led by Brown with 18 points and Bone with 14. Bone pulled down 15 rebounds. Shelton had four steals and Moore had four assists.

Oblong came calling and claimed a 47-39 non-conference win over Dieterich Monday evening.

Oblong stepped out to a 19-9 opening quarter lead and led 27-9 at halftime. Dieterich came back in the second half but it was too late.

Kallee Heuerman scored 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Dieterich. Kelsey Webb scored 10 points. Anna Shadle, Kaitlyn Bloemer and Webb had three assists each. The Movin' Maroons drop to 3-8 on the season.

SSW stepped out to a 13-5 opening quarter and had a 20-8 final period surge. Schlechte tallied 17 for the winners while Tabbert added 16 and Schuler chipped in with 14.

CHBC was led by Skylar Morrison with 12 points.
