PANA -- Teutopolis captured the championship of the Class 8-3A Pana Girls Basketball Regional Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes beat Vandalia 33-14 for the title. T-town held a 17-8 halftime lead and had a 10-2 final period run. Claire Bushur scored 11 and Olivia Niemerg 10.

T-town improves to 23-0 on the season and advances to face Jasper County, who won the Marshall Regional, at the Cumberland Sectional Wednesday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Class 3A Marshall Regional

Jasper County handed Lawrenceville Parkview a 40-25 loss to win the championship of the Marshall Regional.

Jasper County led 21-14 at halftime and had a 19-11 second half run. Renae Russell scored 10 for the winners and Josie Grunloh nine.

Jasper County will face Teutopolis at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9 in the Cumberland Sectional.

Class 8-2A Altamont Regional

Brownstown/St. Elmo edged Altamont 45-42 to win the Altamont Regional Thursday.

BSE edged out to an 8-7 opening quarter lead then went on a 15-2 tear in the second period as C. Wilhour tallied seven points, five on free throws.

Altamont came back with a 15-6 third period run for pull within 29-24 and outscored BSE 18-16 in the final period only to fall short.

BSE was led by C. Wilhour with 18 points and Oberlink with 13.

Guse led Altamont with17 points and Runge added 11.

BSE advances to the St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday, December 9 to face either St. Anthony or North Clay (Louisville) at 6:30 p.m. for the championship. St. Anthony and North Clay meet tonight for the regional title.

At Cisne

Sigel St. Michael claimed a victory over Dieterich to win the championship of the Class 8-1A Cisne Regional Thursday.

No score was reported. St. Michael advances to its own sectional Wednesday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. against Mount Olive, a 25-20 winner over Pocahontas at the Ramsey Regional.

 

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

Charleston and Urbana advanced to meet for the championship of the Effingham Regional.

Charleston defeated Mattoon 37-30 Thursday evening while Urbana won over Champaign Edison 32-30.
