CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School saw its season come to a close in the Class 7-4A Charleston Girls Basketball Regional Monday evening.
The Mustangs fell behind to Champaign Edison 13-4 in the opening quarter and trailed 25-12 at halftime. Effingham rallied with a 9-3 third quarter run to pull within 28-21 going into the final quarter and had an 8-7 run but couldn't make up that first half deficit.
Diveley tallied 12 for the Mustangs who finish the season with a 14-5 record.
In the other contest, Charleston pounded Mattoon 55-11. Charleston advances to face Champaign Edison at 5 p.m. today for the championship.

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional
St. Anthony saw its season end in the championship game of its own regional Monday evening.
The Bullpups fell to North Clay (Louisville) 21-19. North Clay advances to the St. Anthony Sectional scheduled Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of the Neoga Regional, either Altamont or Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor. Those two teams meet tonight at 6 p.m. for the regional championship.
Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Host Sigel St. Michael and Dieterich advanced to the championship game with victories Monday evening.
St. Michael, the top seed, blasted Martinsville 43-4 in the first game. The second game went to Dieterich over Effingham Sacred Heart 28-18.
St. Michael and Dieterich, seeded third, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional title.
Class 7-3A Marshall Regional
Jasper County and host Marshall picked up wins to reach the championship game.
Jasper County, seeded third, edged second-seeded Lawrenceville Parkview 18-15 in the second game.
In the opener, Marshall defeated Red Hill (Bridgeport) 30-15. Marshall and Jasper County will square off for the crown tonight at 6. The winner will meet the winner of the Teutopolis Regional which is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The Teutopolis Regional features T-town against Cumberland at 6 p.m. today followed by Pana taking on Vandalia at 7:15. Those winners advance to the title game Wednesday.
