Effingham Sacred Heart beat Mattoon St. John in both seventh and eighth grade boys basketball play Tuesday evening.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade contest 26-8. Ten players scored for Sacred Heart with Swingler, Frauli and Zerrusen getting four points each. The Shamrocks evened their record to 3-3.

In eighth-grade competition, Sacred Heart picked up its first victory by a 37-17 count. Tegeler scored nine and Bowlin eight for the winners who improve to 1-5.

At  Altamont

Vandalia came calling and claimed two wins over Altamont Tuesday evening.

Vandalia was a 44-38 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Isaiah tallied 32 points for the winners. He scored 14 in the opening quarter and had 25 by halftime.

Altamont was led by Cripe with 10.

In the eighth-grade game, Vandalia claimed a 52-36 win. Ritchey and Wells scored 14 points each for the winners. Altamont was led by Kollmann with 12 and Gelsinger with 10.
