Effingham split victories with Dieterich in junior high school girls basketball competition Monday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 32-10 by jumping out to a 14-3 opening quarter lead. Diveley tallied 18 for the winners who improve to 12-4 on the season.

Dieterich was led by Boerngen with four points.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich edged the Mustangs 28-25 in overtime. EJHS held a 17-11 halftime lead before Dieterich came back to pull within 21-20 going into the final quarter. The score was knotted at 24-24 sending the game into overtime where Dieterich pulled out the win.

Johnson scored nine for the winners. Krouse led Effingham (4-12) with nine.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed two wins over Salem. The Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 26-21. Salem held an 11-8 halftime lead and led 20-19 going into the final quarter.

T-town then came back with a 7-1 run to pull out the victory. Carly Michels tallied 18 for the winners who improve to 12-7.

In eighth-grade play, T-town leaped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead and led 26-1 at halftime. The Shoes went on for a 45-13 win. Alli Brumleve scored 14 and Claire Bushur 12 as T-town improved to 19-0.

At Newton

Jasper County handed Martinsville two losses Monday evening.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade game 34-10 with a 14-0 first quarter run. Allison Einhorn scored 15 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County picked up a 58-30 win with a 13-6 opening quarter run and an 18-8 third period tally. Lauren Higgs and Broke Jansen scored 12 points each for the winners.
