ALTAMONT -- Jasper County and Altamont split victories in junior high girls basketball competition Thursday evening.

Altamont picked up the seventh-grade win by a 24-18 count. Altamont held a 14-6 first half lead and led 20-14 going into the final quarter. McManaway tallied eight and Goeckner seven for the winners.  Jasper County was led by Blake with 12.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont held Jasper County scoreless in the first quarter for an 8-0 lead. Jasper County came roaring back in the second quarter, outscoring the homestanders 12-2 in the second period for a 12-10 lead. Jasper County then had a 10-4 third period run and held off a final quarter challenge by Altamont.

Stone tallied six for the winners. Altamont was led by Guse with 12.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis and Sigel St. Michael claimed a win apiece. The Sharpshooters won the seventh-grade game 36-23.

St. Michael held a 21-13 halftime lead and had a 15-10 second half run. Hope Bueker scored 19 and Lexi Niebrugge 10 for the winners. T-town was led by Carly Michels with 13 as the Shoes dropped to 11-7.

In eighth-grade action, T-town claimed a 23-10 win. The Shoes had an 8-1 opening quarter run and finished out with a 10-3 final period surge. Olivia Niemerg led the way with eight points as the Shoes improved to 18-0. Micah McWhorter led St. Michael with four.

At Beecher City

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick split wins with Brownstown/St. Elmo Thursday.

BCCH won the seventh-grade game 26-14 to improve to 4-2 in the National Trail Conference, 15-3 overall. BSE held an 11-9 first half lead before BCCH rallied in the second half with a 17-3 run. Madison Cherry tallied eight points for the winners. BSE was led by Campbell and Chandler with four points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Brownstown/St. Elmo picked up a 41-24 win. BSE had a 21-8 first half lead and never looked back. C. Wilhour tallied 20 points and Campbell 12 for the winners. BCCH was led by Jaelyn Robertson with eight. BCCH drops to 2-4 in the conference, 10-8 overall.
