Altamont and Sigel St. Michael advanced in winner bracket action at the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.

Altamont claimed a 28-14 win over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor. Altamont held SSW scoreless in the third and fourth quarters after leading 16-10 at halftime.

Mary Guse led the winners with 16 points. SSW was led by Hanna Hayes with six.

Sigel St. Michael then claimed a 34-21 win over Dieterich. St. Michael had a 13-4 third quarter run to pull away.

St. Michael was led by Hope Bueker with 16 points and Micah McWhorter with 11. Dieterich was led by Andrea Bierman with seven.

In the consolation contest, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick defeated Effingham Sacred Heart 34-15. BCCH took a 19-6 first half lead and never looked back.

Lauren Wojcik and Jaelyn Robertson were the one-two scoring punch for the winners with 13 and 12 points respectively. Katie Carie led Sacred Heart with eight points.

At Bridgeport

Paris Mayo handed Jasper County a 28-15 loss in the championship game of the Eighth-Grade Conference Tournament Thursday.

Mayo held a 14-6 first half lead then had a 10-7 third quarter run. Crampton led the winners with 13 points.

Jasper County was led by Allison Harris with seven.
