NTC Eighth-Grade Girls Tournament -- October 28

Brownstown/St. Elmo and Neoga picked up opening round victories in the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening at Beecher City.

BSE edged out to an 11-6 opening quarter lead on Effingham Sacred Heart then pushed into high gear with a 10-0 second period run. BSE went on to  beat the Shamrocks 42-13.

Clarie Wilhour tallied 23 points for the winners. Sacred Heart was led by Callie Feldhake with six.

In the second contest, Neoga edged Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 30-29. BCCH led 18-14 at halftime then had a 9-7 run to lead 27-21 going into the final quarter. Neoga rallied with a 9-2 run to pull out the victory.

Partlow led with 10 points while O. Titus added nine for the winners. Kylee Wheeler led BCCH with eight points.

Tonight's games will feature Altamont taking on Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor at 5:30 followed by Sigel St. Michael facing Dieterich at 6:45. Sacred Heart and BCCH square off at 8 in consolation bracket play. The tourney will continue Friday and finish out Saturday.

At Bridgeport

Jasper County fell to Lawrenceville 20-15 in the third place game of the Seventh-Grade Conference Tournament.

Lawrencville trailed Jasper County 13-8 at halftime but came back with a 12-2 second half run to pull out the win.

Jacey Parr tallied six points for the winners.
