Altamont handed Effingham Sacred Heart two losses in girls junior high school basketball competition Tuesday evening.

Altamont won the seventh-grade encounter 36-5. Pemberton led the winners with 12 points.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont claimed a 31-6 win. Guse tallied 15 for the winners.

At Effingham

Effingham split victories with Centralia. The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game 65-6, taking a 36-0 first half lead.

Divley tallied 12 points while Rueter added eight for the Mustangs who improve to 5-2.

In the eighth-grade game, Centralia won 40-16. Centralia held a 19-10 halftime lead then outscored the Mustangs 21-6 in the second half.

Niebrugge led the Mustangs with 12 points as they dropped to 2-5 on the season.

At Windsor

Teutopolis picked up two wins over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. T-town edged WSS 18-16 in seventh-grade play.

Carly Michels led the Shoes with 12 points as they improved to 7-3. M. Nichols led Windsor/Stew-Stras with 10.

In eighth-grade action, T-town remained unbeaten at 10-0 on the season by downing WSS 38-4. Ciara Roepke tallied eight points for the winners.

At Newton

Jasper County took a win in eighth-grade play but fell in the seventh-grade contest against Flora.

Flora took a 13-4 first half lead in the seventh-grade game and went on for a 19-11 win. Whitney Zumbahlen led Jasper County with five points.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County pounded Flora 39-8, taking a 29-4 halftime lead. Josie Grunloh scored 10 points for the winners.
