Andy Fehrenbacher has been hired as the new varsity boys basketball coach at Salem.

Salem's school board approved the hiring Monday night at their regular board meeting. Fehrenbacher confirmed his new position in a text to our Greg Sapp, and Salem Superintendent Brad Detering tweeted the decision to Salem media following Monday night's meeting.

Fehrenbacher was not retained as boys varsity coach at Teutopolis last month. He won 200 games in eight seasons as varsity coach at T-Town.

Fehrenbacher tweeted that he and his family would likely be relocating to Salem, and he will be teaching there as well as coaching. His wife, Missy, currently teaches in the Effingham Unit 40 school district.
