EIU's Anderson Earns District Honors

Eastern Illinois junior Trae Anderson was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 19 second team on Friday afternoon as the national organization released its All-District teams.

Anderson led the Panthers in scoring at 13.2 points per game as he finished the season scoring in double figures in 22 games.  Anderson had a strong close to the season scoring in double figures in 20 of the Panthers final 24 games including double figures games in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).

Anderson had a season high of 25 points with 12 rebounds against Southeast Missouri in early February.  Anderson posted two double-doubles during the season.  During OVC play Anderson increased his production with 15.2 points per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor in conference games.  Anderson was named a second team All-OVC selection along with earning All-OVC Newcomer team honors.

EIU finished the season with an 18-15 record, 9-7 in the OVC.  It was EIU’s second winning season since making the NCAA Tournament field in 2001.  EIU beat Oakland in the opening round of the CIT giving the Panthers their first postseason win as an NCAA Division I school.  EIU lost in the second in the round of the CIT.

The NABC All-District 19 team included Cameron Payne (Murray State), Jarvis Williams (Murray State), Corey Walden (Eastern Kentucky), Craig Bradshaw (Belmont) and Eric Stutz (Eastern Kentucky).  The second team included Trae Anderson (Eastern Illinois), Deville Smith (UT Martin), Marshun Newell (UT Martin), Evan Bradds (Belmont) and Chris Horton (Austin Peay).
