Donaldson Advances to Finals of 3A King of the Hill Competition

Effingham High School sophomore Jacob Donaldson has reached the finals of the Class 3A King of the Hill competition.

Donaldson hit nine three-pointers in qualifying just ahead of the Carbondale Sectional championship game Friday night to advance to the finals. EHS sophomore Brent Beals did not advance Friday night.

Donaldson will shoot Thursday night at Carver Arena in Peoria Civic Center to see if he can move into the final round on Friday.

By the way, in the championship game at Carbondale Friday night, Belleville Althoff defeated Carbondale, 77-72, to reach the super-sectionals. At Champaign Centennial, Mahomet-Seymour defeated Springfield Lanphier, 71-70.

In the 4A Sectional championship game at Pekin, Normal Community defeated Alton, 48-36.
