Josie Zerrusen, Parkland Headed to National Tournament

Parkland College is heading to the National Women's Basketball Tournament.

In a matchup worthy of an NJCAA Final Four, the No. 1 ranked Parkland team beat No. 3 Illinois Central 59-53 to advance to the Nationals for the second consecutive year. The Cobras, now 32-1, will play in the National Tournament which kicks off Tuesday, March 17 at Johnson County CC in Overland Park, Kansas.

Effingham High School graduate Josie Zerrusen, a 5-foot-9 freshman, is a starter for the Cobras. Zerrusen has started in all 33 games for the Cobras and averages 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds. She is hitting 40.6 percent from the field and 65 percent at the line. She also averages 3.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
