Casey-Westfield Continues To Roll, T-town To Play Tonight

Casey-Westfield continues to roll along. The Warriors defeated Patoka 77-56 in the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday evening.

Three players connected for double digits for the winners.Cody Hollensbee led the way with 27 points while Trey Thompson added 19 and Fisher 13.

The Warriors edged out to a 13-10 opening quarter lead as Thompson connected for nine points. Hollensbe then took over with 13 points in the second period and the Warriors led 41-26 with a breakaway 28-16 quarter.

Hollensbe continued with 10 more points in the third period. Patoka came back with a 19-18 edge but the Warriors righted themselves with an 18-11 final quarter.

Patoka was led by Jered Cain with a whopping 43 points. He connected on 18 field goals, one from three-point range, and six of eight at the line.

Casey-Westfield, who picked up its first sectional win in 75 years, will now face Nokomis at 7 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. Country Companies Three-Point Shootout.

Class 2A Benton Sectional

This contest was postponed from Wednesday to tonight. Teutopolis will take on Lawrenceville at 7 p.m.

The winner advances to face Carterville at 7 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
