Two Regional Championships Set After Thursday Games

The final two area boys basketball regional championships were set after games contested Thursday evening.

In the Class 1A Odin Regional, Patoka edged Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 48-45. Patoka now advances to face Odin tonight at 7 for the regional championship.

The champion of this regional advances to face the winner of the Oblong Regional, either Dieterich or Casey-Westfield, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional. The winner of the Stew-Stras Regional, either Altamont or Nokomis, advances to face the winner of the Red Hill (Bridgeport) Regional, either Edwards County (Albion) or Red Hill Tuesday at the St. Anthony Sectional at 7 p.m.

In the Class 2A Lawrenceville Regional, two games were on tap Thursday evening.

Lawrenceville handily downed Flora 78-55 in the opening game of the evening. In the second contest, Robinson was a 65-56 winner over Mount Carmel.

Lawrenceville will now take on Robinson at 7 p.m. for the regional title.The winner then advances to the Benton Sectional against the winner of the Marshall Regional, either Teutopolis or host Marshall. The other regionals entering the Benton Sectional are West Frankfort (either Carterville or West Frankfort) and Carmi-White County (either Harrisburg or Faifield).
