CASEY-WESTFIELD 57, ST. ANTHONY 33

Anyone who listened to St. Anthony's dismantling of Casey-Westfield last Friday night 78-44 must have been stunned by Wednesday night's result.

This time, Casey-Westfield pounded the ball inside, either scoring or drawing fouls that turned into free throws. The Warriors were ahead 17-6 after the first quarter. While the margin ebbed and flowed during the middle two quarters, nothing much really changed. St. Anthony trailed by 11 when the second quarter began and trailed by 10 at the end of the third quarter.

The Warriors really put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring St. Anthony 17-3 in the period. From a 34-point win over Casey-Westfield last Friday to a 24-point loss last night was a shocking development for the Bulldogs.

Casey-Westfield shot 43% from the field, making 20 of 46 shots, made 15 of 25 foul shots, turned the ball over just seven times, grabbed 35 rebounds and made two of 12 three-point shots.

St. Anthony made just 26% of its shots, going 13 of 50 from the field, including one of 14 in the final quarter. The Bulldogs made just two of 16 three-point tries. St. Anthony made five of nine foul shots, turned the ball over 10 times, and grabbed 23 rebounds.

Andrew Gardewine, as he has most of the season, led St. Anthony in scoring with 14 points. Also scoring for St. Anthony: James Kabbes 4, Nick Grunloh, Kyle Hartke and Connor Greene three points apiece, and Zach Gardewine, Derek Rios and Jeff Niebrugge two points each.

St. Anthony ends its campaign with a 19-11 record, and says goodbye to seniors Zach Gardewine, Derek Rios, Andrew Gardewine, Connor Greene, Braden Puckett and Kyle Bourgeois.

Casey-Westfield is now 15-12 on the season.
