Kentucky Remains Unbeaten, College Scores

Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) -- Karl-Anthony Towns posted his fourth double-double of the season and hit a late jumper to help No. 1 Kentucky stay unbeaten. Towns tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds and the Wildcats overcame a furious second-half rally by host LSU to beat the Tigers, 71-69. A near- miraculous 21-2 run gave LSU not only life, but a real chance at handing Kentucky its first loss of the season.

Keith Hornsby, who scored 17 points, capped the flurry with a pair of layups. LSU led 66-60 before Towns ended the run with a stepback jumper that jumpstarted an 11-3 UK run to close out the game. Towns, one of Kentucky's heralded freshman, has averaged 15.3 points and 11.3 boards over his last three games after failing to surpass 12 points or four rebounds in his previous five. Willie Cauley-Stein scored 15 points and Devin Booker gave 14 for the Wildcats (24-0, 11-0 SEC), who are one win shy of matching the best start in program history. LSU's dynamic frontcourt played superb on Tuesday despite the loss. Jarell Martin had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Jordan Mickey scored 16 points with seven rebounds and four blocks. The Tigers (17-7, 6-5) fell to 1-8 in the last nine matchups against Kentucky.


(5) Wisconsin 65, Nebraska 55

Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) -- Sam Dekker scored 21 points and No. 5 Wisconsin survived a late push from host Nebraska, edging the Cornhuskers 65-55 to improve to the best start in program history. Frank Kaminsky and Bronson Koenig netted 13 points apiece for the Badgers (22-2, 10-1 Big Ten), with the National Player of the Year candidate Kaminsky also pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds. Dekker and Josh Gasser had eight boards apiece. Wisconsin swept the season series with Nebraska and has won seven straight games overall since a loss at Rutgers on Jan. 15. Kaminsky missed that game with a concussion. Terran Petteway dropped 21 points and Shevon Shields added 12 for Nebraska (13-11, 5-7), losers in four of five.


(8) Kansas 73, Texas Tech 51

Lubbock, TX (SportsNetwork.com) -- Wayne Selden Jr. made four 3-pointers en route to 16 points in the eighth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks' 73-51 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Tuesday. Perry Ellis added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks (20-4, 9-2 Big 12), who bounced back from a 67-62 loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday. Brannen Greene, Frank Mason III and Cliff Alexander had 10 points apiece. Norense Odiase ended with 13 points and eight boards for the Red Raiders (12-13, 2-10), who have lost 12 straight against Kansas. Devaugntah Williams and Zach Smith contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.


(10) Notre Dame 60, Clemson 58

Clemson, SC (SportsNetwork.com) -- Jerian Grant helped Notre Dame steal a win at Clemson on Tuesday, as the 10th-ranked Fighting Irish used a late run to down the Tigers 60-58 at Littlejohn Coliseum. Grant, who has numerous family ties to the Clemson program, scored four points during a late 8-0 run that prevented Notre Dame (22-4, 10-3 ACC) from losing for the third time in four games. Following a forgettable performance in a 30-point drubbing at Duke over the weekend, Grant finished with 22 points and five assists, while Pat Connaughton added 14 points for the victors. Jaron Blossomgame had a monster 17-point, 14-rebound effort go for naught, as Clemson (14-10, 6-6) missed two shots in the final 10 seconds.


(24) Arkansas 101, Auburn 87

Auburn, AL (SportsNetwork.com) -- bobby Portis had 22 points and eight rebounds as No. 24 Arkansas defeated Auburn 101-87 on Tuesday night. Michael Qualls netted 19 points and Anthlon Bell added 16 off the bench for the Razorbacks (19-5, 8-3 SEC), who have won six of their last seven games. K.T. Harrell and K.C. Ross-Miller each put in 21 points for Auburn (11-13, 3-8), which has dropped six of its last seven contests.


Illinois Takes On Michigan Thursday

(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois will meet Michigan at the State Farm Center Thursday night. The Illini have been off since notching a 59-54 road win over Michigan State on Saturday. Illinois enters tomorrow's affair 6-5 in Big Ten play and 16-8 overall. Thursday's game is at 8:00.
