Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School jumped out to a 14-4 opening quarter lead and led 34-8 at halftime over Dieterich in its own Class 7-2A boys basketball regional Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups went on to a 49-20 victory. Tingley tallied 12 points while Dust added 10.

In the second contest, Altamont edged St. Elmo/Brownstown 35-33.

Altamont will now face St. Anthony at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 7-1A Palestine Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart saw its season come to a close at the Palestine Regional Tuesday evening.

The Shamrocks fell to Newton St. Thomas 41-9. Iin the second contest, Sigel St. Michael was a 44-27 winner over Hutsonville.

Newton St. Thomas will now face Sigel St. Michael at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

 

Class 7-1A Mulberry Grove Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg downed Windsor 25-19 to move into the title contest of this regional.

Stew-Stras trailed Windsor 8-7 at halftime then had an 18-11 second half run to pull out the victory. Kirby tallied nine for the winners while Jesgarz added eight. Stew-Stras improves to 6-15.

Windsor was led by Lecrone with six points.

Mulberry Grove downed Pana Sacred Heart in the opening contest, 44-27.

Mulberry Grove faces Stew-Stras at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional title.

Class 7-3A Sullivan Regional

Teutopolis moved into the title contest of this regional with a 38-17 win over Shelbyville Moulton Tuesday evening.

T-town took a 10-1 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Luke Ungrund tallied 15 and Mitch Hemmen 11 to lead T-town.

The title contest will feature T-town against Blue Mound Meridian at 6 p.m. Thursday.
