T-town Bounces Paris, Area Boys Basketball Roundup

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolisi High School bounced Paris 88-30 in boys basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes didn't let Paris even get out of the gate, taking a 22-6 first period lead and leading 46-10 at halftime.

T-town had three players score in double figures and nine other players put numbers on the board. Brett Mette led with 15 points while Thoele added 12 and Gebben 11. Brock Mette had eight points and four other players scored seven points each.

T-town improves to 13-2 on the season and will be back in action Saturday against Decatur Eisenhower in the St. Anthony Shootout.

Stewardson-Strasburg had a big scoring first quarter and went on to down Neoga 40-30.

The Comets led 14-4 after one period and 23-8 at halftime. Mark Jones was the lone Comets player in double figures with 16. Neoga was led by Moore with 14.

Altamont had a big scoring third quarter and claimed a 70-57 win over Shelbyville in non-conference action.

The Indians held a slight 18-17 opening quarter lead and led 33-30 at halftime. The Indians then broke the game open with a 16-7 third quarter run.

Mayhaus and K. Wolff tallied 16 points each in a one-two scoring punch for the Indians.

Cowden-Herrick couldn't get it's scoring going until the fourth quarter before downing Mulberry Grove 70-54. The score was tied at 33-33 at halftime and the Hornets held a slight 47-43 lead going into the final period and outscored Mulberry Grove 23-11 for the winning margin.

Burrus scored 21 points connecting on three field goals and 14 of 16 free throws while Blackerby added 13 for the winners.

Dieterich had two players score in double figures as the Movin' Maroons downed Flora 52-47 in a non-conference matchup.

Bohnhoff scored 15 and T. Niemerg tallied 13. Dieterich took an 18-9 opening quarter lead and led 30-17 at halftime. Flora made a comeback with a 17-4 third period run to knot the score at 34-34. Dieterich then mounted a rally itself for an 18-13 scoring run to pull out the victory.

North Clay (Louisville) captured a 50-38 non-conference win over Newton. The Cardinals got it together from the start, holding Newton to one point in the first quarter for a 16-1 lead.

Gullidge scored 14 and Hartsey 11 for the winners. Newton was led by Harris with 11. Cohorst had five rebounds for the Eagles.

Beecher City trounced Martinsville to the tune of 73-29 in a non-conference contest.

Austin Rexroad led the Eagles with 19 points and seven rebounds. Also in double figures was Jackson Bales with 10 points and four steals. Westen Giles and Jake Wills added eight points each. Giles had three assists. Brady Randall led in rebounds with 12.

At Moweaqua

Moweaqua Central A&M picked up a non-conference win over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 70-54.

The two teams were tied at 20-20 after the opening quarter. Central A&M then edged ahead 38-33 at halftime and had an 18-5 third quarter run. The winners banged home 14 three-pointers.

Kyle Hardimon led St. Elmo/Brownstown with 12 points while Landon Feezel added 11 and Malachi Maxey 10.
