The St. Anthony Bulldogs scored just two points in the fourth quarter, but held off the Altamont Indians to post a 44-35 victory in the third place game of the 43rd Annual Vandalia Holiday Tournament.

The game Tuesday was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

It appeared St. Anthony might run off and hide in the contest, as Altamont was held to just two made foul shots in the first quarter, leaving the Bulldogs with a 12-2 lead at the end of the period. Altamont battled back, though, and the second quarter was an 11-11 standoff to leave St. Anthony ahead 23-13 at halftime.

The Bulldogs played their best ball of the night in the third quarter, however, outpointing Altamont 19-13 to lead 42-26 after three. The Bulldogs led by as many as 19 points, but then came the fourth quarter which, offensively, was the same as Altamont's first quarter. St. Anthony scored its only points of the period on Zach Gardewine's two foul shots. Altamont could only muster nine points in the quarter, though. The Indians drew to within seven points several times, but could get no closer in the final quarter.

Altamont made just 10 of 41 shots for 24%. The Indians did make 10 of 12 foul shots, though, turned the ball over 14 times, just one in the fourth quarter, and grabbed 23 rebounds while canning five of 20 three-point attempts.
