In a dandy Tuesday night affair, the Effingham Hearts posted a 57-50 win over the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes at J.H. Griffin Gym. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

In a game where neither team led by more than eight points, Effingham jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the Wooden Shoes battled to tie the game 10-10 after one quarter. Teutopolis played some of its best ball in the second quarter, outscoring the Hearts 19-14 to lead 29-24 at halftime.

Effingham exploded out of the gate, though, to start the second half. The Hearts again scored the first six points of the half to take a one-point lead and went on to outscore T-Town 19-14 in the period and the game was tied 43-43 heading into the final quarter.

Teutopolis had a difficult time finishing shots and the smaller Hearts team held their own on the boards. Effingham eventually got a two-possession lead and when Teutopolis had to foul, the Hearts knocked down its foul shots, going eight-for-eight from the line in the final period to post the seven-point victory.

We also shot video of the Teutpolis High School Band. As well, a thank you to the band for letting us use their stage to video the game
