Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) -- Robert Upshaw made a putback jumper to put 17th-ranked Washington ahead with 1:27 remaining in the game and the Huskies held on to beat Eastern Washington 81-77 on Sunday. Upshaw finished with a career-high 21 points, nine rebounds and six blocks for the Huskies (8-0), who rallied from a 14-point deficit to remain unbeaten.


Michigan State Crushes Oakland

East Lansing, MI (SportsNetwork.com) -- Denzel Valentine scored 19 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Michigan State Spartans crushed the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 87-61, in non-conference play at the Breslin Center.

 

Oregon Rallies To Beat Illinois

CHICAGO -- Oregon basketball coach Dana Altman believes freshman forward Dillon Brooks has both talent and instincts.. He just needs to be consistent.

"When he's on, he's a handful. He just has to be on more often," Altman said.

Brooks gave a glimpse of what he can do when he's consistent. He scored 24 ponits on 9-of-15 shooting and Oregon rallied to beat Illinois 77-70 Saturday night. Oregon used an 11-0 run to turn a four-point deficit into a seven-point lead with 1:31 left. Illinois was scoreless for 4:34 during that span.

Rayvonte Rice tied his career high with 29 poitns for the Illini who led by as many as 13 and fell to 35-13 all-time at the United Center.

 

St. Louis Downs SIUE

ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis scored six of the game's final eight points Saturday night and held on to take down visiting SIUE 67-61 in nonconference men's basketball in front of 6,032 at Chaifetz Arena.

"It's a step in the right direction," SIUE Head Coach Lennox Forrester. "I don't believe in moral victories, because we do want to win. We have to continue to make strides as a basketball team towards getting better and tonight I thought we got better as a team. We just have to continue to do so."

SIUE (1-6) lost for the sixth consecutive game. Saint Louis (6-4) snapped a two-game losing streak with the win.

 

EIU 59, North Illinois 55

Eastern Illinois played its final game as part of the former Bracketbuster series, beating Northern Illinois for the fourth time as part of that format as the Panthers held off the Huskies 59-55 Saturday night in Lantz Arena.

EIU won both games selected as part of the series and both return games moving in front in the all-time series 45-44. EIU improved to 4-6 on the season and will return to action this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Indiana State. NIU dropped to 3-3 on the year.

 

Missouri vs. Illinois Saturday In St. Louis

(St. Louis, MO) -- Missouri is off until Saturday when the Tigers take on Illinois in a neutral-site came at Scottrade Center. The Tigers were zapped 74-58 by Xavier on Saturday to slip to 5-5 on the season. The Fighting Illini have dropped two straight to fall to 7-3.
