T-town Advances, Neoga, St. Michael Fall At Class 7-A State Tourneys

AUBURN -- Teutopolis advanced in the Class 7-3A State Girls Basketball Tournament with two victories Saturday at Auburn High School.

T-town won its opener over Green Valley Midwest Central 27-17. T-town held an 11-6 halftime lead then had a 16-11 second half run. Claire Bushur tallied 15 for the winners.

In the second contest, T-town faced Pleasant Plains and won 27-18. The Shoes took a 13-6 halftime lead then had a 10-6 third quarter run. Olivia Niemerg led this time around with 12 points.

T-town advances to face St. Joseph in the state championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. T-town is unbeaten with a 27-0 record while St. Joseph is 24-1.

In other scores, Peotone defeated Hillsboro 27-23, St. Joseph beat Lockport Kelvin Grove 39-28, Pleasant Plains defeated Glasford Illini Bluffs 27-17 and St. Josph downed Peotone 41-18. Peotone and Pleasant Plains will meet for third place at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Class 7-2A State Tournament

Neoga lost its opener to Princeville 49-14 in the 7-2A State Tournament at Assumption Central A&M Middle School Saturday.

Princeville stepped out to an 18-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Brinlee Bauman tallied 17 and Emma Lane 12 for the winners. Neoga was led by Brooke Rupel with six.

Neoga ends the season with a 13-9 record. Princeville advanced with a 21-2 mark and faced Colfax Ridgeview and fell 40-27.

In other scores, Colfax Ridgeview defeated Liberty 37-35, Assumption Central A&M won over Bourbonnais St. George 32-26, Lewistown Central downed Villa Grove 42-17 and Lewistown Central won over Assumption Central A&M 35-22.

Colfax Ridgeview will meet Lewistown Central at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for the state title. Princeville takes on Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. for third place.

Class 7-1A State Tournament

Sigel St. Michael fell to Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes in the Class 7-1A State Tournament at Normal Chiddix Junior High School Saturday, 25-20.

Decatur took a 10-4 halftime lead. St. Michael came back with a 9-2 third period run to pull ahead 13-12 going into the final quarter. Our Lady of Lourdes then had a 13-7 run to finish out with the victory.

Micah McWhorter led St. Michael with nine points and Hope Bueker added seven. St. Michael ended the season with a 16-6 record.

In other scores, Jacksonville Our Saviour defeated Peoria St. Mark 42-24, Lincoiln West Lincoln-Broadwell edged Danville Schlarman 34-31, Pontiac St. Mary's bounced Lockport Taft 30-9, Jacksonville Our Savior edged Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes 33-32 and Lincoln West Lincoln-Broadwell defeated Pontiac St. Mary's 38-24.

In the championship Thursday, Jacksonville Our Saviour will meet Lincoln West Lincoln-Broadwell at 7:30 p.m. The third place contest will feature Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes vs. Pontiac St. Mary's at 6 p.m.
