Effingham hosted Effingham St. Anthony in junior high school boys basketball Thursday evening and split victories.

In seventh-grade competition, the Bullpups were 49-22 winners over Efifngham. St. Anthony jumped out to a 13-2 first quarter lead and never looked back on its way to a 49-22 win. Dust led the Bullpups with 18 points. Effingham's leaders were Luke Spencer and Tate Neibrugge with three points each.

The Mustangs drop to 3-6 on the season.

Iin the eighth-grade contest, Effingham moved its record to 8-1 with a 36-28 win over St. Anthony. The Mustangs led 24-14 at halftime. Wolfe scored 22 and Hagler 12 for the winners. Wolfe pulled down 11 boards and Bushur seven. Jackson had five steals.

Brandenburger led St. Anthony with 10 and Neibrugge added eight.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis bounced Vandalia twice. T-town was a 35-26 winner over Vandalia in the seventh-grade contest. Mitch Hardiek scored 11 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town led 19-17 at halftime before Vandalia came back to lead 30-28 going into the final period. T-town then had an 11-6 run to pull out the victory.

Dawson Smith scored 15 for the winners.

At Strasburg

Effingham Sacred Heart edged Stewardson-Strasburg 31-28 in seventh-grade competition. There was no eighth-grade game.

The score was knotted at 11-11 at halftime before Stew-Stras pushed ahead 21-18 going into the final quarter. The Shamrocks then made a comeback with a 13-7 run to pull out the win.

Conkling tallied 11 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Kirby with 20. The squad drops to 3-7.

Altamont bounced Cowden-Herrick 64-12 in seventh-grade play Thursday evening.

Delaney led the winners with 19 points while Gelsinger chipped in with 13. Richards led Cowden-Herrick with four.

Dieterich traveled to Windsor and split victories with the host squad. Dieterich won the seventh-grade game 31-22. Derrick Kuhl scored nine and Collin Hartke for Dieterich. Dieterich improves to 2-4.

In eighth-grade action, Windsor was a 43-25 winner. Dieterich was led by Seth Bohnhoff and Travis Walk with six each. The squad drops to 0-7.
