Effingham St. Anthony picked up a 48-19 victory over Jasper County in junior high boys basketball competition  Monday evening.

The Bullpups edged out to an 8-6 opening quarter lead then had 17-5 second period and third period runs. Dust tallied 16 for the winners. Thane led Jasper County with eight.

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony was a 48-27 winner. The Bullpups were led by Milleville with 18 and Wall with 11. Conner Bierman led Jasper County with 12 points and three rebounds.

At Effingham

Effingham claimed a victory over visiting Dieterich 43-16 in seventh-grade action. The Mustangs jumped out to a 9-2 first quarter lead and led 16-5 at halftime. Effingham pushed the lead to 17 after three quarters before outscoring Dieterich 15-5 in the final period.

Carson Utz and Clayton Cramsey led Effingham with eight points each followed by Kyle Pemberton and Cameron Kalber with seven points each. The Mustangs are now 3-4.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham bounced Dieterich to the tune of 52-19. The Mustangs held Dieterich scoreless in the opening quarter while taking a 25-0 lead. The Mustangs hit 59 percent from the field and made the lone free throw.

Wolfe tallied 14 points while Bushur added 10 for the winners. Jackson had five steals. The Mustangs are 6-1 on the season.

Sigel St. Michael and Teutopolis B split victories Monday evening.

Teutopolis B edged St. Michael 32-29 in seventh-grade play. St. Michael held a 14-12 halftime lead before T-town B went on a 14-8 third period run and held on for the one-point victory.

Brock Deters tallied 12 for the winners. Fearday scored 11 for St. Michael.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Michael picked up a 31-16 win with a 10-4 opening quarter run. Cornell scored 14 for the winners. Kendall Zerrusen and Braydan Will had four points each for T-town.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up two National Trail Conference wins over Stewardson-Strasburg.

SEB led 15-6 at halftime and went on for a 30-17 win in seventh-grade play. Goldsborough tallied 11 for the winners. Kirby led Stew-Stras with nine. Stew-Stras drops to 2-3 in the conference, 3-6 overall.

In the eighth-grade contest, SEB claimed a 41-24 win. SEB led 21-6 at halftime. N. Philpot scored 14 for the winners while Adermann and R. Himes had nine each. Stew-Stras was led by Adam Burton with eight as the squad fell to 0-5 in the conference, 1-8 overall.

In seventh-grade play, Altamont trounced Windsor 44-3. Altamont held a 31-1 halftime lead.

Kollmann tallied 15 for the winners while Delaney and Beccue scored eight each. Windsor was led by Wheeler with two points.
