BOYS

Effingham St. Anthony tallied two victories over Charleston in freshman A and B competition Monday evening at Charleston High School.

The Bulldogs won the freshman A game 59-51. St. Anthony stepped out to a 25-16 opening half lead as Alex Deters knocked down two three-pointers and had eight points by halftime. Adam Levitt ended with 12 points in the second half for the Bulldogs.

Levitt finished with 18 points in the game followed by Alex Beesley with 13 and Jack Nuxoll with 12. Deters tallied nine.

In the freshman B game, St. Anthony claimed a 50-39 win. The Bulldogs led 29-18 at halftime and 39-23 going into the final quarter.

Beesley led the way with 17 points for the winners.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Teutopolis picked up a girls freshman/sophomore game over Charleston. The Wooden Shoes jumped out to a 22-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 68-41 win.

Macy Michels tallied 18, Christy Hoene 17 and Jolene Bueker 13 for the Shoes.
