Junior High Girls Seventh-Grade Regionals

Seventh-grade girls basketball regionals opened competition Saturday in the area. Following are scores and statistics:

Class 7-2A Palestine Regional

Oblong edged Edwards County (Albion) in the opening game Saturday, 27-25 in the Palestine Regional. The second contest went to North Clay (Louisville) over Palestine, 22-16.

Tonight's games feature Effingham St. Anthony against Olbong at 6 followed by Neoga taking on North Clay at 7:30.

 

Class 7-2A Altamont Regional

Nokomis and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick picked up victories in opening round play Saturday.

Nokomis defeated Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 27-19. Nokomis will now face Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6 p.m. today. Nokomis took a 13-8 first half lead then had a 14-11 second half.

Stew-Stras/Windsor was led by Davis with seven points.

In the second contest, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick pounded Findlay Okaw Valley 29-7. BCCH took a 16-2 first half lead and never looked back.

Lauren Wojcik tallied 14 for the winners. BCCH advances to face Altamont at 7:15 p.m. today.

Class 3A Casey-Westfield Regional

Casey-Westfield and Lawrenceville Parkview claimed victories in the Class 3A Casey-Westfield Regional.

Casey-Westfield edged Marshall 24-20 in the opening game. Lawrenceville Parkview then downed Robinson Nuttall 22-19.

Casey-Westfield advances to face Jasper County at 6 p.m. today followed by Red Hill (Bridgeport) against Lawrenceville Parkview at 7:30.

 

Class 3A Sullivan Regional

There was only one game Saturday in the Sullivan Regional. Sullivan picked up a 24-11 victory over Cumberland.

Sullivan advances to face Teutopolis at 6 p.m. today followed by Shelbyville Moulton against Arthur at 7:15.

 

Class 4A Mount Zion Regional

Effingham's season came to an end in the Mount Zion Regional Saturday.

The Mustangs fell to Tolono Unity 39-6. Tolono Unity held a 19-5 first half lead then ripped off a 20-1 run in the third period.

Krouse led Effingham with three points. The Mustangs end the season at 7-12.

Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

This regional opens competition tonight. Sigel St. Michael faces Effingham Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. followed by Dieterich taking on Martinsville at 7:30.
