T-town Drops Season Opener, Girls High School Roundup

SULLIVAN -- When is the last time Teutopolis High School lost its girls basketball season opener? It's been a very long time, but the Wooden Shoes fell to Sullivan 49-43 Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 9-7 opening quarter lead as Thoele tallied five points. T-town held a 20-19 halftime lead.

The Redskins then came out in the second half as Emily Neuhauser connected on a three-pointer and two from the free throw line. Sullivan pushed ahead 34-27 going into the final quarter.

T-town's final period comeback fell short. Hardiek scored 13 for the Shoes who lost four senior starters to graduation. Schmidt chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds. Bueker, Hardiek and Repking had seven rebounds each.

Neuhauser finished with 24 points and Brittin Boyer added 14 for Sullivan. Both had seven rebounds each.

At Beecher City

South Central came calling and picked up a 44-35 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday evening.

The Cougars stepped out to a 14-4 opening quarter lead and led 23-13 at halftime. CHBC came back with a 13-10 third period run to pull within 33-26 going into the final quarter. South Central then had an 11-9 edge.

The winners were led by Abby Hahn with a whopping 30 points.

CHBC was led by Jensyn Morrison with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Okaw Valley claimed a 51-35 non-conference win over Shelbyville/Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor Monday evening.

The winners led 31-15 at halftime then played S/S-S/W even in the second half. Paige Harlin led the winners with 16 points while Amy Orris and Amanda McClain added 11 points each.

Shelbyville/Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor was led by Autumn Carson with 11.

Central A&M edged ahead 28-25 at halftime then had a big third quarter with a 19-5 run. Dooley led the winners with 16 points while Maples and T. Jordan scored 13 each.

Neoga was led by EC Thies with 11 and Jaycie Roy with 10. Olivia Ott pulled down eight rebounds and had three blocks.
