Bulls Use Huge Third Quarter To Rout Clippers

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Jimmy Butler scored 22 points and Taj Gibson had 20 as the shorthanded Bulls crushed the Clippers 105-89 at STAPLES Center. Chicago outscored LA 31-14 in the third quarter. Mike Dunleavy added 19 points and Joakim Noah had 11 with 16 rebounds and six assists for the 8-and-3 Bulls, who were without starters Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol. Jamal Crawford dropped in a game-high 24 points off the bench for the Clippers, who fell to 5-4. Blake Griffin donated 19 points and 10 boards and DeAndre Jordan recorded 10 and 17 in defeat.

Bulls guard Derrick Rose did not play in last night's game against the Clippers. Rose missed his second straight game with a left hamstring injury. Rose has already missed six of Chicago's 11 games this season. Meanwhile, Pau Gasol also missed the game with a calf injury.


Mavericks Maul Hornets

(Charlotte, NC) -- Monta Ellis led a balanced attack with 18 points as the Mavericks mauled the Hornets 107-80 in Charlotte. Chandler Parsons collected 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Mavs, who have reeled off four straight wins. Tyson Chandler finished with 14 points and nine boards in the victory. Gerald Henderson had 18 points for the Hornets, who have dropped two straight and four-of-five. Kemba Walker and Jannero Pargo had 11 points apiece in the loss.


Nuggets Shock Cavaliers

(Cleveland, OH) -- Ty Lawson posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 assists helping the Nuggets surprise the Cavaliers, 106-97, at Quicken Loans Arena. Denver was coming off a 16-point loss to the Knicks the night before. Arron Afflalo knocked down four from behind the arc on his way to 23 points, while Timofey Mozgov chipped in 14 and 11 boards. The Nuggets are 3-7. Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters each put up 20 points apiece in the defeat.  LeBron James paced the Cavs with 22 points, nine boards and five helpers. Cleveland had a four-game winning streak snapped.


Suns Sneak Past Celtics

(Boston, MA) -- It took a couple big defensive plays from Eric Bledsoe in the final minute, but the Suns were able to hang on for a 118-114 win against the Celtics at the TD Garden. Bledsoe finished with 15 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Markieff Morris led the way for Phoenix, dropping 30 points, grabbing seven boards and dishing out five helpers. Goran Dragic chipped in 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds as the Suns snapped a two-game losing streak. Jeff Green had a team-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting in the loss. Rajon Rondo was one assist shy of a triple double and Jared Sullinger added 18 points and eight boards. Boston has lost three in-a-row.


Heat Sink Nets Despite Injuries

(Brooklyn, NY) -- A banged up Heat team went into Brooklyn and beat the Nets, 95-83, behind 22 points and five assists from Mario Chalmers. Miami was without Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts. Chris Bosh chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds for the Heat, who ended a three-game losing streak.  Bojan Bogdanovic nailed four from deep and tallied 22 points in the defeat. Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson combined to shoot 8-of-30 from the field as Brooklyn dropped its fourth consecutive game.


Magic Pound Pistons In Motown

(Auburn Hills, MI) -- Nikola Vucevic racked up 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Magic pounded the Pistons 107-93 at The Palace. Tobias Harris dropped in 24 points and Evan Fournier added 14 and eight assists for Orlando, which has won three of four to move to 5-and-7 on the season. Channing Frye had 12 points and Victor Oladipo netted 11 as all five Magic starters scored in double-figures. Caron Butler posted 20 points off the bench to lead the Pistons, who have dropped five of six.  Brandon Jennings chipped in with 18 points and six helpers in the setback.


Grizzlies Rout Rockets For NBA's Best Record

(Memphis, TN) -- Mike Conley led a balanced attack with 19 points as the Grizzlies crushed the Rockets 119-93 in a battle of the top two teams in the NBA at FedExForum. Courtney Lee added 15 points and Zach Randolph posted 14 with seven rebounds for the Grizz, who have won four in-a-row to improve to a league-best 10-1. Jon Leuer, Ben Udrih and Quincy Pondexter all had 13 points off the bench in the victory. Trevor Ariza netted 16 points and Dwight Howard had 15 points and nine boards for Houston, which slipped to 9-2. Patrick Beverley was the only other player in double figures with 10 points. James Harden was held to six points on 1-of-8 shooting.


Spurs Dominate 76ers

(San Antonio, TX) -- Matt Bonner went 4-of-6 from deep and totaled 18 points as the Spurs cruised to a 100-75 win over the 76ers at the AT&T Center. Cory Joseph chipped in 14 off the bench and Danny Green scored 11 in the victory. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined to score just 17 points in limited action for San Antonio, which has won four of its last five. Michael Carter-Williams paced the Sixers with 16 points off the bench as they fell to a league-worst 0-10 to start the season. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 13 points in defeat.


Blazers Storm Past Pelicans

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers outscored the Pelicans 34-13 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 102-93 victory at the Moda Center. Damian Lillard knocked down a clutch three late to cap a 24-point, seven-assist night. LaMarcus Aldridge added 22 points and nine rebounds for Portland, which has won five in-a-row and seven of eight. New Orleans shot 4-of-24 in the final 12 minutes, including 0-for-14 between Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans. Anthony Davis paced the Pelicans with 31 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks as they had a two-game winning streak snapped.
