Effingham St. Anthony claimed first place in the St. Elmo/Brownstown Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.
In the opening game, St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Stewardson-Strasburg 49-17. McWhorter tallied 14 for the winners while Goldsboro added 10.
Kirby led Stew-Stras with 13 points.
In the second game, St. Anthony defeated Ramsey 45-33. St. Anthony trailed 10-7 after the opening quarter then took a 17-15 halftime lead. The Bullpups had a 13-4 final quarter run to pull away.
Hoene scored 13, Tingley 11 and Elder 10 for St. Anthony.
In the third place contest, Ramsey was a 37-18 winner over Stew-Stras. Ramsey edged ahead 15-14 at halftime then had a 22-4 second half run.
Stew-Stras was led by Kirby with eight points.
In the championship game, St. Anthony claimed a 45-13 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown. The Bullpups leaped out to a 25-0 first quarter lead. Dust tallied 12 for the winners. St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Goldsboro and McWhorter with four each.
