(New York, NY) -- It got ugly at Madison Square Garden with the Bulls cruising to a 104-18 victory against the Knicks behind 21 points and 11 rebounds from Pau Gasol. Taj Gibson knocked down 10-of-12 shots off the bench on his way to 22 points and eight boards. Derrick Rose had 13 points and five assists in the win. Derek Fisher's debut as head coach didn't go as planned for New York. The Knicks shot 36-percent from the field including 6-of-27 from Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Junior. Carmelo Anthony led NY with 14 points.


Hornets Steal Win From Bucks

(Charlotte, NC) -- Kemba Walker knocked down two clutch shots to help the Hornets complete a 108-106 overtime comeback win against the Bucks in both teams opener at Time Warner Cable Arena. Walker sent the game to the extra session with a 26-foot three with a second left and won the game on long two in the closing moments of OT. He finished with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists. Al Jefferson put up a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards in the victory. Milwaukee led 83-68 entering the fourth quarter. Number-two overall pick Jabari Parker had a quiet debut, scoring eight on 3-of-9 shooting. Brandon Knight paced the Bucks with 22 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, while O.J. Mayo chipped in 17 off the bench.


Pacers Bounce 76ers

(Indianapolis, IN) -- The shorthanded Pacers were able to pull off a 103-91 win against the 76ers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the opener for both teams.  Roy Hibbert bounced back from his poor postseason with 22 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks. Rodney Stuckey came off the bench to chip in 16 points and five assists. Donald Sloan filled up the box score tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the victory. Tony Wroten was a bright spot for Philadelphia posting 22 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Nerlens Noel grabbed 10 rebounds with three blocks and six points in his NBA debut, but struggled shooting 2-of-11 from the field.


Raptors Hold Off Hawks In Season Opener

(Toronto, Ontario) -- DeMar DeRozan recorded 15 points, 11 rebounds and six steals to help the Raptors hold off the Hawks 109-102 to open the season at Air Canada Centre. Amir Johnson posted 16 points and 10 boards, while Jonas Valanciunas added 17 points and eight rebounds for Toronto, which finished third in the Eastern Conference last season at 48-and-34 but lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Brooklyn. Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver and Mike Scott scored 20 points apiece for Atlanta, which went 38-44 last year to grab the eighth seed in the East. The Hawks, however, were bounced from the postseason in the first round by Indiana in seven games. Al Horford had 12 points and 13 boards and Paul Millsap donated 13 and 10 in defeat.


Heat Top Wizards

(Miami, FL) -- Chris Bosh dropped in 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Heat to a 107-95 win over the Wizards in season opening action from AmericanAirlines Arena. Norris Cole added a career-high 23 points and Dwyane Wade finished with 21 as Miami won its fourth consecutive season opener. Drew Gooden and Marcin Gortat led the Wizards with 18 points each and John Wall dished out 11 assists and added 16 points. Paul Pierce posted 17 points and six rebounds in his Washington debut. The Wizards have dropped five straight season openers.


Grizzlies Hold Off Timberwolves

(Memphis, TN) -- Marc Gasol exploded for a career-high 32 points and nine rebounds leading the Grizzlies to a 105-101 win over the Timberwolves from the FedExForum on opening night for both teams.  Gasol's frontcourt mate Zach Randolph helped out with a double-double of 25 points and 13 boards. The two combined to make 24-of-33 shots. Thaddeus Young paced Minnesota with 26 points, while Mo Williams added 18 off the bench. Rookie Andrew Wiggins only played 19 minutes and scored six points with three rebounds and two steals in his first game.


Nuggets Rise Past Pistons

(Denver, CO) -- The Nuggets outscored the Pistons by eight in the fourth quarter to grab an 89-79 win at the Pepsi Center in each team's season opener.  Kenneth Faried paced Denver with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while Arron Afflalo chipped in 15 points. The only other Nuggets players in double figures was Timofey Mozgov with 13 points and 11 boards. Josh Smith had a strong game in the defeat, dropping in 25 points on 9-of-22 shooting. D.J. Augustin came off the bench to contribute 15 points and six rebounds for Detroit.


Rockets Spoil Jazz Home Opener

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- The Rockets have started the 2014-2015 season off with back-to-back road wins after defeating the Jazz, 104-93, at EnergySolutions Arena. Dwight Howard posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while James Harden did the same with 18 points and 10 assists. Trevor Ariza hit four from deep on his way to 20 points. Alec Burks led the way for Utah with 18 points and Derrick Favors had a nice night contributing 16 points, seven boards and four blocks. Trey Burke couldn't find the range from deep going 0-for-4, but was still able to tally 15 points and four assists.


Warriors Sink Kings

(Sacramento, CA) -- Stephen Curry tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and six steals as the Warriors grinded out a 95-77 win against the Kings in Sacramento. It was the opener for both teams. Klay Thompson added 19 points helped by a 9-of-10 effort from the charity stripe and added six helpers. Golden State was sloppy turning the ball over 22 times and connected on only 6-of-27 threes, but held the Kings to just under 31-percent shooting and forced 27 turnovers. DeMarcus Cousins had a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards in the defeat. Darren Collison contributed 13 points, eight assists and five steals.


Suns Rout Lakers In Season Opener

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Isaiah Thomas scored 23 points in 20 minutes off the bench to lead the Suns to a 119-99 rout of the Lakers to open their season at US Airways Center. Marcus Morris added 21 points and Goran Dragic donated 18 for the Suns, who went 48-and-34 last season and missed the playoffs by just one game. Eric Bledsoe recorded 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds in the victory. Kobe Bryant poured in a game-high 31 points for LA, which slipped to 0-and-2 after losing to Houston at home on Wednesday. Ed Davis had 14 points and nine boards off the pine in defeat.


Trail Blazers Rock Thunder

(Portland, OR) -- LaMarcus Aldridge opened the 2014-15 season with 27 points to lead Portland to a 106-89 win over Oklahoma City at the Moda Center.    Wesley Matthews scored 22 with Robin Lopez recording an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. Chris Kaman dropped 12 points off the bench as the Trail Blazers won their fifth regular season opener in the last six seasons. Russell Westbrook led the Kevin Durant-less Thunder with 38 points and knocked down 15 of his 16 free throws. Lance Thomas added 14 off the bench and Serge Ibaka finished with 10 points and eight boards.
