Effingham St. Anthony and Jasper County split victories in junior high girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest 31-21. Jasper County held a 16-13 halftime lead then had a 9-2 third quarter run. Harris led the winners with 14 points.

St. Anthony was led by Katherine Slaughter with six points as the Bullpups fell to 3-5.

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony claimed a 36-19 win. St. Anthony led 20-11 at halftime then held Jasper County scoreless in the third period to push the lead to 32-11.

Three players hit double digits for St. Anthony. Shae Kinkelaar led with 12 points followed by Katie Kabbes 10 and Meg Richards 10. St. Anthony improves to 4-2.

Bergbower led Jasper County with 12 points.

At Newton

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis bounced North Clay (Louisville) twice. The Wooden Booties won the seventh-grade game 38-12. Myah Funneman scored 10 points while nine other players tallied points in even scoring.

M. Lovett led North Clay with six points.

In eighth-grade action, T-town held North Clay scoreless in the first half for a 24-0 lead and went on for a 40-9 victory. Emma Deters scored in double figures with 13. North Clay was led by M. Lovett with four.

T-town is now 7-0 in seventh-grade action and 3-4 in eighth-grade play.

At Dieterich

Dieterich and Neoga both picked up victories in junior high basketball play Tuesday.

Neoga claimed a 39-15 win in the seventh-grade game. Neoga held a 27-13 lead going into the final quarter. Partlow scored 14 points for the winners. Mahnke led Dieterich with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, Dieterich was a 36-18 winner. Dieterich stepped out to a 14-5 first quarter lead and never looked back. Robards led the winners with 14 points. Neoga was led by Easton with eight.

At Altamont

Sigel St. Michael downed Altamont in seventh-grade action while Altamont won the eighth-grade contest.

St. Michael held a 15-8 halftime lead then went into the final quarter with a 23-10 lead. Altamont came back but St. Michael held on for the 29-20 victory. L. Niebrugge tallied 11 and H. Bueker 10 for the winners. Altamont was led by Mary Guse with 14.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont won 28-27 to improve to 8-1. Tinley Mette led the winners with 14 points. S. Bueker led St. Michael with 16.
